A reflection: The Ukraine.
Is this our Spanish Civil War? There is something sordid and disgustingly corrupt about Putin's Russia. Perhaps, in the case of Russia it has ever been thus. It is difficult to accept this schizoid kith, of brutish, imperial ambition, along with the kin, of Tchaikovsky, Dostoevsky, and Solzhenitsyn.
